Why values-based education matters more than ever

In an age of complexity and rapid change, students need more than knowledge. They need empathy, resilience and a strong sense of belonging.

Lyfta’s Year of Values course provides an evidence-based, practical framework for schools to nurture these vital skills across the year.

Grounded in Ofsted’s character and personal development framework, and shaped by Lyfta’s award-winning storyworlds and human connection pedagogy, this ready-to-use course helps teachers deliver meaningful, reflective learning with minimal prep.

What makes it different

Human connections at the core

Students engage with real human stories through Lyfta's immersive, interactive storyworlds, building empathy, curiosity, and a deep understanding of global and personal perspectives.

Discovering values in action

Instead of being told what values mean, students witness them being lived through authentic stories and guided reflection, developing richer, more nuanced understandings.

Reflective enquiry for deeper thinking

Students are guided to notice and articulate how their understanding evolves, learning to:

  • Recognise shifts in their own thinking about values
  • Illustrate their understanding through examples and personal connections
  • Consider how values might be enacted in their own lives and communities

Flexible, inclusive and ready to use

Whether you’re introducing values education for the first time or deepening a long-standing commitment, A Year of Values is built for flexibility.

‘Lyfta’s values are all about the responsibility, solidarity, equity and equality that are fundamental to human beings, and therefore they don't only correlate with our values as a trust, they help bring them alive each and every day.’
